Privacy
  1. What details about me can others see?
x When you register, the information you provide is used to create a basic profile. To protect members privacy certain information is NOT published on your profile. Other users will NOT be able to see your real name, your email address or your date of birth, instead your profile will display your username and your age in years.

Because this can make it more difficult for your friends to find you on Quechup, members can search for you by your real name or part of your name and also by your email address - this means that people who know you by name or have your email will be able to find you. You can alter this in privacy settings. Other members can also see when you are on Quechup.

People that you invite to join you on Quechup by using the 'invite friends' and 'address book checking' system will receive an invite showing both your real name and your email address so they know who the invite is from. Inviting friends is entirely optional for all members and have complete control over who they choose to invite.

If you are concerned about privacy and who can see your profile and details, you have control over these settings on the privacy settings page.
  2. Can I control who can find me and who can see my profile?
x Yes. You can control who can see your profile and if you show in search results. You can also set who can see your friends network and if you appear in other members' friends networks.

Additionally you may choose to make your email address as NOT searchable and your real name as NOT searchable to further enhance your privacy.

All these features are controllable in your privacy settings.
  3. Filtering personal details
x Identity theft is a very real and wide spread problem on the Internet, especially on social networking sites (See BBC news video report)

Quechup has always been concerned with our members privacy. We actively filter full names and email addresses from publicly viewable areas of the website due to the risk of identity theft and predatory behavior and ask members NOT to put personal details in publicly viewable information such as their username, their profile description, photos or blogs.
  4. What does Quechup do with my information?
  5. x To see how Quechup maintains your details please see our privacy policy.
